Bringing plays to the airwaves.
Open-Door Playhouse is a 501©3 non-profit Theater organization created by Bernadette Armstrong in 2020 when Live Theaters were shuttered across the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These closures left playwrights, actors directors and sound engineers with nowhere to produce play, act in plays or direct plays. The plays you will find on Open-Door Playhouse are produced in the radio style of the 1940’s and 1950’s, using the techniques of the past to Highlight and support new and emerging writers, to give a place for theater professional a place to work, and play goers a place to hear new and insights into the world we share with others. The end of the COVID-19 pandemic did not stop us, we continue to grow and in 2023 we were there for the actors during the strike to continue to work.

“I got to hear your play, Custody, last night. You did a wonderful job giving it all the elements any good play needs: playful moments, conflict, heartbreak. Lovely. And I liked the Italian peppered in there! Also great production values. Clean, intimate sound! Well done! “

“Wabi Sabi...With everything going on in the world, we need a story like this. Thanks so much for producing it for a wide audience!”
