Theater 95: That Day is Coming, Every Day is Coming
Summary
That Day Is Coming, Every Day Is Coming is a short play intended for audio-only formats. Two older gentlemen, longtime gamblers and friends, meet for their regular $100/$200 cribbage match. Over this routine card game, the men, never referred to by name until the play's conclusion, initially discuss benign concerns within their gambling circles but soon begin considering larger issues. The talk turns to notions of time, existence, and purpose until the older of the pair confesses that he has terminal cancer. This admission refocuses the lens of their conversation and uneasily points it squarely upon them. That Day Is Coming, Every Day Is Coming contemplates some weightier philosophical issues through the filter of everyday vernacular.
Dennis Gersten directs actors Allan Wasserman, James Calvert and Stephen Gillikin.
