Theater 92: The Librarian

Summary

The Librarian, Mark Chester, is called to speak before the  Sunny Valley Middle School Board  to discuss his recent purchases for the students. The Librarian storyline echoes recent news headlines across the country.

The Librarian  written by Hoyt Hilsman, directed by Kim Hlavac,  and starring Dalia Vosylius as Board Chair and JD Cullum as Mark Chester.

Hoyt Hilsman

HOYT HILSMAN is an award-winning writer and journalist.  He has written screenplays for studios and television networks, including Disney, Sony, New Line, Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS.  His stage plays and musicals have been produced in theaters around the country and abroad, and have won numerous awards.  He is also a contributor to national media, and has been a regular contributor to HuffPost and a theater critic for Variety.

Kim Hlavac graduated from the prestigious NYC High School Of Performing Arts and received her BFA in theatre arts & film in George Morrison’s company from SUNY/Purchase. Her New York theater credits include Beatrice in “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” opposite Stanley Tucci as Benedict directed by Theodore Mann. Edna in “WAITING FOR LEFTY’ directed by Howard Da Silva. Gertrude Stein’s “LISTEN TO ME,” directed by Lawrence Kornfeld. She played Lauren Phillips in the daytime drama “ANOTHER WORLD”. Kim is a proud member of Los Angeles VS & Station House. Kim would like to thank Bernadette Armstrong for providing and supporting the platform for new writers & directors to explore different avenues of their creativity. Kim has written, directed & acted in several pieces for Open-door playhouse and has thoroughly enjoyed each experience. She is thrilled to be part of celebrating women in theatre

Dalia Vosylius is a professional actor, producer, and rare L.A. native. She is long time member of Pacific Resident Theatre where she recently appeared in Wendy MacLeod’s “Women In Jeopardy”, Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons”, and Samuel D. Hunter’s “The Few”. She was a part of The Chance Theatre’s first streaming production of Lynne Nottage’s “Sweat” as a way to keep theatre alive during Covid.

On the small screen, Dalia has appeared in several commercials and tv shows such as The Young & The Restless, CSI, and Malcolm In The Middle.

JD Cullum as Mark Chester

JD Cullum

A veteran of Southern California theater, JD has starred in productions at the Mark Taper Forum, Geffen Playhouse, Kirk Douglas Theater, Pasadena Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, Laguna Playhouse and the Antaeus Company, where he is a longstanding member. Recent appearances include “The Seafarer”, “Clybourne Park” (Laguna Playhouse); “Cripple of Inishmaan”, “The Hothouse” (Antaeus Company); and “All The Way” (South Coast Repertory). On camera: “CSI: Los Angeles,” “The Orville”, “Aquarius,” “Code Black,” “Bones.” He appears in the upcoming series “Ted.”
