Theater 61: PART TWO-PENNY SLOTS

Synopsis

We continue the journey with the three lifetimes of retired NYC seniors, now Floridians, a.k.a. The Penny Slots Ladies. Their previous two infamously newsworthy heroic deeds from Act One land them a full expense paid trip to be guests on Good Morning America to their old stomping grounds in New York City. As they await their highlighted interview on national television, NYC has a different agenda. The next destination is the Italian Riviera, but why? Continue to follow their hilarious journey and banter, and watch more calamities unfold. Writer/Director

Kim Hlavac (Playwright/Director) is an actor from New York who graduated from the infamous High School of Performing Arts, from which the movie FAME was created. Kim received her BFA in theatre arts and film from SUNY/Purchase under the tutelage of George Morrison. Other influential acting mentors include Uta Hagen and Wynn Handman. Kim has performed in various plays in New York, TV & commercials.

When Covid put the world on hold, Kim took up writing and put her creativity onto paper. She is so excited to debut her first script and directing skills on Bernadette’s amazing Open-Door Playhouse podcast, with talented actors she met over Station House and VS Theaters’ Zoom readings. Kim has been a proud member of Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA since 1982.

Goreti da Silva (As Helen)

Since moving to Los Angeles from Canada, Goreti da Silva has worked in many films, tv programs, theatre, and improv shows. Most recently, you may have seen her on Big Little Lies, a Toyota commercial, or heard her voice in one of many radio plays on Opendoorplayhouse.org.

Goreti was awarded The Michael Grossman Most Inspirational Award for her body of theatre work in the Desert; and she won the Valley Theatre Award for her work in “Park Plays: Portland”.

When not performing, Goreti fills her "well" by teaching Improv, Theatre Arts, Playwriting, and Acting to underserved youth who write plays in which they later perform. Though Goreti has produced and directed dozens of plays, she continues to be surprised, delighted and inspired by our next generation of leaders.

Marla Cotovsky as (As Marie)

Marla Cotovsky, a Chicagoan, has called Los Angeles her home since 1980. A graduate of UW-Madison, Marla headed West with a double degree, - Comm Arts: Radio, TV & Film production, and Spanish. Marla did not pick acting, it picked her. The Attic Theatre, The Open Fist Theatre, Theatre Geo, Theatre Neo, Skypilot Theatre, and Tuesdays with VS Theatre and Thursdays at Station House have kept, and are keeping Marla busy acting, writing, and directing. After 15 plus years of retired from acting to play some hardcore tennis, Marla hung up her racket and decided to throw her hat in the VO acting ring and started working out with fellow actors to see if she would still like the craft and if it might still like her. Apparently, the answer is yes. Marla is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and is available to play! Vamonos!!! Let’s Go!

André Sogliuzzo (Harold, Alessandro, GMA Production Assistant)

He is a frequent performer with LATW (Oslo, Daniel Deronda, The Goodbye Girl, Frost/Nixon, Salomé, Cyrano de Bergerac, As You Like It, Act One), and is frequently on Family Guy, American Dad, Elena of Avelor, and as Puss in Boots for DreamWorks TV. He's died repeatedly in numerous video game titles including Sekiro, Call of Duty, The Elder Scrolls, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Assassin’s Creed, Guild Wars, Mafia 2 & 3, and was selected by Al Pacino to voice Tony Montana in Scarface: The World is Yours. Listed by IMDB - Top 25 Greatest Video Game Voice Actors of All Time. André assisted in the vocal restoration of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and Orson Wells' The Other Side of the Wind. His voice-match artistry includes Russell Crowe, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, and many others. He provided over 20 voices for Oliver Stone’s series The Untold History of the United States, can currently be heard in the haunting Holocaust documentary Who Will Write Our History and as genius inventor Jaques Bolsey in Beyond The Bolex. He's made frequent appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Gareth Williams (Token Booth & amp, Train Conductor, himself)

Gareth Williams has been an actor for over 40 years, working with luminaries and icons such as Tom Hanks, Laurence Fishburne, Marisa Tomei, Martin Sheen, Burt Reynolds, Charles Nelson Reilly, Mahershala Ali and many more. His roots are in theatre, having spent his earlier years in New York, studying with Uta Hagen, Larry Moss, Geraldine page, Herbert Berghof and doing theatre in and out of NYC. He is a founding member of the near seminal theatre company Naked Angels. Seven years ago he started a film production company, Detroit Street Films and its adjunct; The Station House Reading Series.
