Theater 84: The Christmas Goat

Summary

Goat is disconsolate. There’s a Nativity Scene being mounted for public display at Christmastime. Goat has been shut out of it because there was no goat present at the time of the historical Nativity. Goat’s barnyard pal, Pig, has figured out a way for Goat to be the G.O.A.T.

(Greatest Of All Time) participant in the Christmas festivities this year. Can you guess what Pig has planned for Goat?

Director: Kim Hlavac

Kim Hlavac graduated from the prestigious NYC High School Of Performing Arts and received her BFA in theatre arts & film in George Morrison’s company from SUNY/Purchase. Her New York theater credits include Beatrice in “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” opposite Stanley Tucci as Benedict directed by Theodore Mann. Edna in “WAITING FOR LEFTY’ directed by Howard Da Silva. Gertrude Stein’s “LISTEN TO ME,” directed by Lawrence Kornfeld. She played Lauren Phillips in the daytime drama “ANOTHER WORLD”. Kim is a proud member of Los Angeles VS & Station House. Kim would like to thank Bernadette Armstrong for providing and supporting the platform for new writers & directors to explore different avenues of their creativity. Kim has written, directed & acted in several pieces for Open-door playhouse and has thoroughly enjoyed each experience. She is thrilled to be part of celebrating women in theatre.

Sue Gisser (Goat)

Sue Gisser is trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Steppenwolf West, the Groundlings, iOWest, Second City, Antaeus Academy, Theatricum Botanicum, and holds a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers. In her professional career, Sue is blessed to seldom work with a director, show, or theatre company only once. She's recurred on "Shameless," "Strangers with Candy," and "Solved;" did multiple spots in campaigns for 'Burlington Coat Factory,' 'Mercury Insurance,' and 'Cedar Fair;' completed 20 tours between the Shoestring Players, Open Window Entertainment, and the George Street Playhouse; her films include "The Activist" and "In the Air"- both by French Director Cyril Morin.

James P. Gleason (Pig)

Always a writer and camera geek, James P (Jim) Gleason arrived at USC’s School of Cinema-Television (now the School of Cinematic Arts) expecting to come out as a Cinematographer, but found working with actors more fulfilling, thus earning his MFA as a Writer/Director. His thesis film “Antebody” played in 37 festivals (winning four awards along the way). And now he finds himself occasionally in front of the camera, or in this case, microphone.

Camille Ameen (Cow)

Camille has acted on Broadway, off-Broadway & major regional theatres. Most recently, she appeared in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Gilmore Girls. Other TV shows include ER, L.A. Law, Newhart, Roseanne, and Kate & Allie. She had the pleasure of performing in Othello, starring James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer, Garland Wright/Jack Heifner's Colette: Music Hall Sidelights with Kathy Bates, Awake and Sing opposite Nancy Marchand, Miss Julie & The Stronger with Rip Torn and Geraldine Page, Pirandello's Chee-Chee with Actors Theatre of Louisville, and 2 productions each of A Streetcar Named Desire and The Three Sisters. She co-founded a theatre-based non-profit for underserved middle schoolers, which became so successful (went to the White House to accept an award for the organization) that she had to let go of other passions. Now, she's thrilled to be acting again with Open-Door Playhouse. She's extremely grateful for the opportunities she's received.

Jeffrey S.S. Johnson ( Sheep)

Jeffrey S.S. Johnson has made a career as an actor since the late 90s. Originally from Massachusetts, he has called Los Angeles home now for over two decades.

He started his performing career with lauded theatre groups such as Critical Mass, The Evidence Room, VS. Theatre, Sons Of Semele, Moving Arts, Bad Puppets, Bootleg Theater, the Odyssey, FAKE Radio Players, the Celebration, and more, also in the Pacific Northwest with the Portland Center Stage.

Film roles include Magazine Dreams, Helter Skelter, Letters To God, Terminator Genisys, Good Grief (*award winner), Haunting Of Cellblock 11 (*award winner), Worth, The 6th Degree, Stellina Blue, A Coat Of Snow, Down Dog, (*award winner), Scorcher, Over The Shoulder (*award winner), and many more.

Television appearances include Lovecraft Country, Bones, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Lie To Me, Burn Notice, CSI, Without A Trace, Barbershop, Boomtown, The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, Tremors, Unhitched, and more.

Over the years, he’s become an accomplished voiceover artist in commercials, industrials, narration, video games, and the like. Most notably, Mr. Johnson has been the voice of TMobile since 2012.

“Captain Black”, his debut as a feature film writer/director was featured in 11 film festivals world wide, earning awards for Best Actor, Best Film & Best Direction. He has also been dipping his toes into producing film & music.

Daamen Krall ( Donkey)

Daamen has worked as a professional actor/voice-over artist in films and television for the past 38 years. Some of the recent film credits include THE POST, CARS III, AMERICAN PASTORAL, UNBROKEN 2, and, for television, SLEEPY HOLLOW and MADMEN. One of his favorite projects was starring in the title role of the award-winning remake of THE CABINET OF DOCTOR CALIGARI. He also produced the award-winning short film HIDE. Under the banner of MIDNIGHT SCREAM PRODUCTIONS with partner Robert Shelby, he is currently in post-production for the web series THE LISTENER. Daamen is also the host and sometimes cast member of the return of radio’s theatre of thrills, SUSPENSE, which is ha gained fans around the world and was nominated twice for a Peabody Award.
