Theater 7: The Peace Of Home

An interracial couple in quarantine seek peace but is forced to deal with the racial reckoning that surrounds them.

Mildred Inez Lewis writes and directs for film, theater and new media. A member of the Dramatists Guild, she belongs to the Antaeus, Company of Angels, Ensemble Studio Theatre-Los Angeles and Playground-LA playwriting groups.

Recent productions include Submerged for Actors Circle Ensemble; How's the Store? at Company of Angels; Acknowledge for Playground-LA; My Body, An Offering for Detroit's Black and Brown Theatre; and Aisle Three for Breath of Fire Latina Theatre Ensemble. Recent publications include CowGirls for Breathe Fire literary magazine and Roost First, Then Fly for Applause Books’ 2020 10 Minute Play collection.

In 2018, she wrote and directed Cast Me! a short comedy that screened in the Outfest and Outfest Fusion festivals. Earlier she wrote and directed left which screened at the Santa Barbara Black, Reel Rasquache, and San Francisco Black Film festivals.

Mildred is currently writing a full-length satire, The Women’s Annex, for San Francisco’s Central Works Theatre playwriting workshop. Suitcases will be produced by Ensemble Studio Theatre-Los Angeles later this year.

Bernadette Armstrong

Bernadette moved to Los Angeles to work in film in the late 1990’s and after her first two films went to festivals she took a short hiatus from writing until she fell in love with small theater. Since 2008 she has had several successful theater projects produced in No Hollywood. Her play The Reading Group was named Pick of the Week by LA Weekly Magazine and in 2017 her play Simple Lives was nominated for Outstanding Writing of an Original Play or Musical by the Valley Theater Awards (the only woman nominated).

Brandon Lamberty - As Quinn

Brandon Lamberty has been acting for five years and also is a stand-up comic. You can see his work in comedic commercial spots all throughout the country. You can see him in the film "Chinese Speaking Vampires" which comes out this month!

Rogelio Douglas III - As Travis  

Rogelio Douglas lll is an actor and spoken-word poet from Brooklyn, NY. He has a BA in Theater from SUNY New Paltz, and an Acting MFA from UCLA Theater, Film & Television — Class of 2020! The Black & Afro-Latino storyteller most recently performed in the Together LA Festival w/ Company of Angeles - Class of 2020 written by Lisa Loomer, and can next be seen in The Displaced produced by San Diego Rep Theatre, as well as Titus Andronicus as Aaron produced by Shakespeare By The Sea.
