Theater 159: Together

Synopsis:

Coming appropriately shortly before Valentine’s Day, Together chronicles the timeline of a love story of two people who were meant for each other. There will be evidence of their love for years to come.

Playwright Michael Sams is an established playwright in his native Australia. His previous plays include Hunters and The Specialists. He is also an actor. He received his Master’s Degree from Macquarie University. His plays have been performed in Sydney, New York, and Dubai.

Sue Gisser

Sue Gisser trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Steppenwolf West, the Groundlings, iOWest, Second City, Antaeus Academy, Theatricum Botanicum, and holds a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers.

Post-pandemic credits include: the World Premieres of "Slow Thunder" at Theatre 68, "Blood Suckers: A Vampire TED Talk" - a One Person Show, and "Feel Your Feet" - A Musical Improv Experience (both at the Hollywood Fringe Festival), the ghost of Marilyn Monroe in "Creeps," and a treasure trove of voice overs with Open Door Playhouse. 

In her professional career, Sue is blessed to seldom work with a director, show, or theatre company only once. She's recurred on "Shameless," "Strangers with Candy," and "Solved;" did multiple spots in campaigns for 'Burlington Coat Factory,' 'Mercury Insurance,' and 'Cedar Fair;' completed 20 tours between the Shoestring Players, Open Window Entertainment, and the George Street Playhouse; her films include "The Activist" and "In the Air"- both by French Director Cyril Morin. 

"Together" is Sue's directorial debut. She's honored to share Michael Sams beautiful play with you, so grateful to Leah Jarvik & David Andrew Calvillo - for their trust & dedication, for the richness of their work, and for going on this ride "Together" with her, to David Peters - for rockstar editing - and especially, to Bernadette Armstrong for all her support, and for the opportunity to tell this powerful story.

Cast:

David Andrew Calvillo (as Kyle)

David Andrew Calvillo is an American actor born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.

After attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles and New York, he landed a recurring role as ‘Gerard’ in season four of Netflix’s global hit ‘Never Have I Ever’ (2023).

He can also be seen on the Apple TV+ series ‘Platonic’ (2023), starring alongside Rose Byrne, and the MAX/Starz 70’s period comedy ‘Minx’ (2022).

His upcoming projects include the highly anticipated Mythic Quest spinoff ‘Mere Mortals’ and season three of ‘Loot’ on Apple TV+, as well as Hulu/FX’s ‘Interior Chinatown’ (executive produced by Taika Watiti), and the Emmy award-winning MAX comedy ‘Hacks’ (starring alongside Jean Smart).

 When not acting, David spends his days writing for television, film, and stage. In 2019 David workshopped his original play “Texture”, producing a sold out limited run of performances.

On his off time David enjoys spending time singing and playing on his guitar and ukulele.

Leah Jarvik (as Lauren)

Leah is a Los Angeles-based actress and a recent Seattle transplant. Recent theatre credits include Cybernella (Culver City Public Theater), The Fifth Wave and Blood Water Paint (Macha Theatre Works), I Did The Holidays My Way (Tales of The Alchemysts Theater), The Winter’s Tale and Head Above Water… (Powerhouse Theater). During the pandemic she has performed online with V.S. Theatre Company, AFI Conservatory, Station House, and the Secrets of Chekhov (LA); GreenStage, The Seattle Film Summit, Zelda Oasis Productions and Macha Theatre Works (Seattle); and Clamour Theatre Company (Florida).
